Passive Voice

1. Simple Present Tense
  • Active  : He reads Harry Potter novel.
  • Passive : The Harry Potter novel is read by him.


  • Active  : I take berries in the garden.
  • Passive : In the garden, berries are taken by me.

2. Present Continuous Tense
  • Active  : Andy is planting a palm tree in front of his house.
  • Passive : A palm tree is being planted by Andy in front of his house.

  • Active  : Roby is reading a book in the library.
  • Passive : The book is being read by Roby in the library.

3. Present Perfect Tense
  • Active  : Workers have made a library in  center of the city.
  • Passive : A library has been made in center of the city.

  • Active  : A mechanic has repaired my car.
  • Passive : My car has been repaired by a mechanic.

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense
  • Active  : James has been reading a novel in library for an hour .
  • Passive : In library, a novel has been being read by James for an hour.

  • Active  : They have been waiting for me to join their party.
  • Passive : I have been being waited by their to join their party.

5. Simple Past Tense
  • Active  : He brought a thick dictionary yesterday.
  • Passive : A thick dictionary was brought by him yesterday.

  • Active  : A hunter shot a big wolf last week.
  • Passive : A big wolf was shot by a hunter last week.

6. Past Continuous Tense

  • Active  : Last week, the lumberjack was cutting a big tree in my backyard.
  • Passive : Last week, a big tree was being cut in my backyard.

  • Active  : Rony was punching Budy at last Monday.
  • Passive : Last Monday, Budy was being punched by Rony.

7. Past Perfect Tense

  • Active  : A lion had eaten a deer this morning.
  • Passive : This morning a deer had been eaten by a lion.

  • Active  : A new teacher had checked my mathematics test yesterday.
  • Passive : Yesterday, my mathematics test had been checked by a new teacher.

8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense
  • Active  : Mr. Wargrave had been painting a library last month.
  • Passive : Last month, a library had been being painted by Mr. Wargrave.

  • Active  : Peter had been telling a good story to me yesterday.
  • Passive : Yesterday, I had been being told a good story by Peter.

9. Simple Future Tense
  • Active  : I will be write a note to my brother at this afternoon.
  • Passive : At this afternoon, a note will be written by me to my brother.

  • Active  : I will be read Naruto comics at this Monday.
  • Passive : This Monday, Naruto comics will be read by me.

10. Future Continuous Tense
  • Active  : I will be leaving Pontianak at 3 P.M. tomorrow.
  • Passive : Pontianak will be being left by me at 3 P.M. tomorrow.

  • Active  : Charlie will be giving a special gift to Susan at her birthday tomorrow.
  • Passive : Susan will be being given a special gift by Charlie at he birthday tomorrow.

11. Future Perfect Tense
  • Active  : Robert will have regulated John party tomorrow.
  • Passive : Tomorrow John party will have been regulated by Robert.

  • Active  : I will have taken a biology test next week.
  • Passive : Next week, a biology test will have been taken by me.

12. Future Perfect Continuous Tense
  • Active  : A snake will have been biting Johnathan for a magic show next Monday.
  • Passive : Next Monday, Johnathan will have been being bitten by a snake for a magic show.

  • Active  : Police will have been burning two kilogram of marijuana at the day after tomorrow.
  • Passive : The day after tomorrow, two kilogram of marijuana will have been being burned by Police.
